Anterior Segment Workshop
We loved welcoming a full group of engaged clinicians to the ACO’s Anterior Segment Workshop 2025. Your enthusiasm and active participation helped make the session a rich learning experience and reinforced the value of practical, skills-based education.
Led by international guest Dr Blair Lonsberry (Pacific University, Oregon), the workshop explored the assessment, management and follow up of corneal and conjunctival foreign bodies. Dr Lonsberry shared practical tips for safe, efficient removal and therapeutic care, before guiding participants through a two-hour hands-on session using the SimulEYE® epithelial removal model.
Attendees had the chance to practice essential techniques including collecting conjunctival swabs, removing corneal foreign bodies, and performing corneal epithelial debridement with tools such as hypodermic needles and the Alger brush, supported by Dr Lonsberry and experienced clinicians.
The workshop formed part of the ACO’s double-bill CPD day, held alongside the Paediatric Masterclass in the morning.
